To monitor the changes in BMD, DXA scan was performed. Presented are mean changes in trabecular BMD at the second and fourth weeks of treatment for NELL-PEG-treated group and PBS control group at distal femoral metaphysis (A), lower lumbar vertebral body (B), and the whole body (C). NELL-PEG-treated group is represented by solid line, whereas PBS control group is shown as dashed line. Compared with the control, NELL-PEG group shows significantly greater BMD increments relative to the week 0 baseline, and it gradually increases until the end of the treatment. *Significant difference (p < 0.05) between treatment and control group means.
