Foot and Ankle volume is one of the ten books in master technique series by the same publisher. The second edition is coming after 8 years of initial publication. This volume describes about 50 operative procedures, most of the techniques are reconstructive procedure in foot and ankle and only three chapters are dealing with trauma. The book is presented in five parts, starting with Phalanges, Metatarsophalangeal joints, Metatarsals and Midtarsals, Hind foot and the Ankle. Most of the common operative procedures of the foot and ankle are covered. Each chapter is covered in systematic fashion under the sub headings of indications and contraindications, pre-op planning, surgery, post-op management and complications. As the chapters are written by the Master Orthopaedic surgeons with their personal experience hence, there are no references at the end of each chapter but there are only recommended readings. The book is very lucidly illustrated with the excellent operative photographs in a stepwise manner, line diagrams and few radiographs. This edition contains certain new chapters like Total Ankle Arthroplasty, Mosaicplasty for Talar Lesions, Tendon Transfer for Foot Drop, Pilon Fractures and Calcaneal fractures.

The only shortcoming of the book and suggestion to the author for the next edition is that as there is no volume on Paediatric Orthopaedic surgery in the series. The authors should have included certain important topics of Paediatric Orthopaedics surgery like CTEV, Flat foot, Cong. Vertical talus, Cavus foot etc. This is an excellent book for the institutional libraries.
