Known standards containing from 3 × 10⁶ to 3 × 10¹ copies were used to estimate the numbers of targets in five unknown samples. The estimated values represent the averages for two separate real-time PCR experiments carried out as described in Materials and Methods. In the negative control, DNA was replaced with water.
