Transarterial nanoembolization of heptocellular carcinoma using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)/Lipiodol for imaging guided photothermal ablation (PTA) of the tumor. A: AuNPs/Lipiodol accumulating in the liver tumor (yellow arrow) after intraarterial injection enabled µCT imaging guided PTA. B: Near-infrared (NIR)-camera recorded a rapid elevation of local temperature up to around 60˚C in the tumor under NIR laser exposure.
