Male mice were scanned and images were analyzed as described in the legends to Fig. 1, Fig. 2. Coefficients of variation were calculated as the ratio of the S.D. to the mean, expressed as a percentage. Eight mice were imaged at each age except 52 weeks, where n = 7 mice.
