Resting energy expenditure (REE) and respiratory exchange ratio (RER) were assessed for 30 min at baseline and approximately 8 h post-HFM in each trial. Data are presented as Mean ± SD. P-value column represents change (time effect) from baseline to 8-h after the high- fat meal for the given variable (assessed via two-way ANOVA). *Significantly different from baseline (p < 0.05). There were no between-trial differences for either REE (p = 0.86) or RER (p = 0.76) at any time point. See Results section for more details
