These four panels illustrate the induction of differentiation of Type I (human adult breast stem cells) to Type II (differentiated human breast epithelial cells, HBEC) by genistein and vitamin D3. The cells were treated with (A) ethanol (0.3%. v/v), solvent control; (B) cholera toxin (i ng/mL), positive control; (C) genistein (10.7 M); and (D) vitamin D, (10.9 M).
