Suppressing activity of carotenes on 8-oxo-dG production induced by LOOH in HepG2 cells. HepG2 cells were pre-incubated with 3 µmol/L of the presented carotenoids at 37°C for 1 h, and the 8-oxo-dG levels in nuclei were determined as mentioned in Fig. 1. Figures are mean ± SD (n = 6) of the number of 8-oxo-dG molecules per 105 dG. The most left bar is a control when HepG2 cells were incubated with vehicle (7.85 ± 0.52 per 105 dG).
