miR-125a regulates the expression of cyclin-dependent genes and modulates endothelial cell proliferation. (a) As assessed by BrdU incorporation assay, the antagonization of miR-125a significantly reduced the proliferation rate of HPAEC (n = 6). (b) The mRNA levels of all relevant CDK inhibitors were measured in HPAEC by qPCR showing a significant increase of the expression of CDKN1A and CDKN2A after treatment with anti-miR-125a when compared to scrambled transfected cells (n = 6).
