A) Schematic representation of the RLuc RNA region targeted by the siRNA. HeLa (B) or COS-7 (C) cells were transfected with dl HIV-1 IRES or dl VAR 2 plasmid together with a scrambled control RNA (−) or a siRNA-RLuc that targets the RLuc RNA. RLuc (white bars) and FLuc (black bars) activities were measured 12 h post transfection and expressed relative to the scrambled control siRNA set to 100% (RLA: relative luciferase activity). Values shown are the mean (+/− SEM) for at least three independent experiments. Statistical analysis was performed by a one way ANOVA test followed by a Bonferroni’s multiple test comparison (square bracket indicates data that are significantly different from SC (*P<0.05)
