Inhibition of S6K1 prevents ethanol-induced changes in protein expression. Hippocampal slice cultures were chronically exposed to ethanol in the presence and absence of the S6K1 inhibitor PF-470861 (PF, 6 μM). Immunoblot analysis revealed that while PF had no effect on the expression of any of the proteins examined (A-D), it completely prevented the increase in expression of GluN1 (A) and GluN2B (B), and the reduction in expression of Kv4.2 (C) and KChiP3 (D) induced by chronic ethanol exposure (n = 7-8).
