Number of water molecules passing through one pore per nanosecond as a function of channel diameter. Results are shown for two applied forces, namely, 0.15 and 0.25 kcal/mol/Å, applied to a water layer 8 Å thick. Similar quantized jumps in water permeability were observed at lower osmotic pressures (Fig. 7).
