Gating strategy used to identify T cells and NK cells by flow cytometry. Lymphocytes were gated based on side scatter (SSC) and forward scatter (FSC) properties. Live cells (negatively stained for the Live/Dead-marker) were gated either as CD3CD56+ cells (NK cells) or as CD3+CD56 cells, which were further divided as CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, pan γδ TCR+ cells (γδ T cells), or CD161+Vα7.2+ cells (MAIT cells). For all figures, gating strategies are described in the section “Materials and Methods.”
