Inhibition of biofilm formation by identified MBP-QQ proteins. Biofilm-forming strains (E. coli, P. aeruginosa, B. subtilis, and S. aureus) were grown in 96 well plates in minimal medium (see Materials and Methods). Purified MBP-QQ proteins were added to 150 μL cultures prior to incubation in amounts of 10 μg (Inline graphic), 50 μg (Inline graphic), and 100 μg (Inline graphic). After 24 h, the established biofilms was quantified by crystalviolet (see Materials and Methods). Diagrams represent the average of three independent experiments each performed with three technical replicates.
