Phase I samples are 5 unpublished mitochondrial newly reconstructed sequences from Prado-Martinez et al. (2013) and Phase II are the 20 newly sequenced, unpublished and reconstructed samples. NCBI samples are chimpanzee and bonobo references (NC001643 and NC001644) and Jenny (X93335), a P. t. verus from Arnason et al. (1996)
