L. monocytogenes strains 10403S (WT) and 10403S ΔgtlA (ΔgtlA) and the complementation strain 10403S ΔgtlA/pPL3e-gtlA (gtlAcompl) were grown in BHI medium in 96-well plates at 37°C, and OD600 readings were determined at the indicated time points and plotted. (B) Plate motility assay. The same L. monocytogenes strains as in panel A were stab inoculated on low-agar (0.3%) BHI plates and incubated at 30°C for 18 h. The experiment was performed in triplicate, and a representative result is shown.
