Table 1.

Number of hydrogen bonds between DNA base and aspartate (Asp) or glutamate (Glu). In parenthesis, it shows the number of bases that are hydrogen bonded with aspartate or glutamate. For example, there are 19 hydrogen bonds between aspartate and DNA major groove atoms in the highly specific DNA-binding domains with 18 interacting with cytosine (C) and 1 with guanine (G).
