As determined by a modified version of the BED criteria (part of module H) from the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR Axis I Disorders–Research Version, Non-patient Edition.11
Given the 100% sensitivity for the BEDS-7 classification algorithm (ie, all true positives were identified), the table does not show false negatives as this subgroup of participants was inaccurately overlooked (with a negative screening) and a gold-standard diagnosis of BED was not identified.
A total of 91 participants (instead of 97) was the base for the BEDS classification algorithm due to missing values on the pilot version of the BEDS.
Abbreviations: BEDS-7 = 7-item Binge-Eating Disorder Screener, BES = Binge Eating Scale, RAND-36 = RAND 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey.
