Atherosclerosis prevalence. The prevalence of atherosclerosis in the psoriasis cohort relative to controls was assessed using one or more correlated evidence of atherosclerotic disease, therefore the total number of psoriasis and control patients with atherosclerosis was 140/207 (67.6 %) and 40/76 (52.6 %), respectively (a). A breakdown of atherosclerosis by age revealed an excess of atherosclerotic disease in younger psoriasis age groups (of 30–39 year-olds, 49 % of psoriasis patients had atherosclerotic disease versus 15 % of controls in the same age group (b)
