Conformational tunneling of the spin label during SS simulation. The label can occupy two basins across the backbone bridge (arrows). To transit from one conformation to another the label has to pass through the protein interior. Orthogonal view in (B) shows the extent of the tunnel connecting two basins. As shown in the supplemental material, the label is capable of squeezing through when lambda ≈0, but is impossible at higher values of lambda.
