Male Tgfa knockout and heterozygous mice were housed until eighteen months of age. Animals were then sacrificed, and their knee (A), elbow (B) and ankle (C) joints were prepared for histology. Tissues were stained with safranin-O and fast green and scored using the OARSI recommendations for histopathological assessment of OA in the mouse. There were no differences in OARSI scores between genotypes for any of the joints examined (knee n = 7, elbow n = 4, ankle n = 4, p < 0.05). Independent data points for OARSI scores with mean ± SD are shown.
