Guidelines for prescription of an epinephrine auto-injector¹⁰

Prescribe epinephrine if a child has any one of the following: History of anaphylaxis Prior history of systemic allergic reaction History of food allergy and asthma Known food allergy to peanut, tree nuts, fish and crustacean shellfish (ie, allergens known to be associated with more fatal and near-fatal allergic reactions)

^*consider epinephrine prescription in any child with a history of IgE-mediated food allergy
