The modification level is represented by the color code shown in the bottom right corner of the left panel. Arrows indicate removal of the modifier. In both cases, domains remained localized around the nucleation site at the center of the array and ultimately decayed after the modifier had been removed. (B) Spatial distribution of modified nucleosomes long after removal of the modifier (t = 3,000/k−m) for looping-driven (Left) and linear (Right) spreading in the presence of strong feedback. Although modification levels are maintained, the position of the initiating stimulus is not remembered.
