(A) Number of positive and negative samples in tissue/graft culture (gold standard) and NPWT (negative pressure wound therapy) foams (total number of samples = 192). Samples were categorized based on the concordance of the detected species. If at least one microorganism species was detected only in one type of material, the sample was considered false positive or false negative, respectively. A sample was classified as false negative, if all found species were discordant. *Additionally, in 3 of 17 NPWT foam samples a nonidentical organism was found which was not detected in the tissue culture.
