The neuroprotective effect of puerarin against the glutamate-induced cytotoxicity in the differentiated Y-79 cells. (a) Cells were exposed to glutamate (5–50 mM) for 24 h without puerarin pre-treatment; (b) cells were pre-treated with puerarin (0, 2, 10 and 50 μM) for 24 h and then exposed to 20 mM glutamate for 24 h. After treatment, cell viability was determined by MTT analysis. All data were expressed as mean ± SD of three experiments and each experiment included triplicate repeats. * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01 vs. control group; # p < 0.05, ## p < 0.01 vs. glutamate-treated group.
