Neuregulin-1 has temporally and subregionally specific neurogenic effects, wherein cell proliferation and overall neurogenesis are increased selectively in the ventral dentate gyrus following administration, and other neurogenic features (including neuronal differentiation, cell survival, cell body and dendritic morphology, and synapse formation) in immature neurons are unaffected.
