Dust extract-mediated surface expression of ICAM-1 is significantly diminished when BEAS-2B cells are pretreated with salbutamol. Subconfluent BEAS-2B cultures were incubated with 10 μM salbutamol for 1 h prior to 5% HDE challenge for an additional 24 h. Cells were detached from the plates and probed for surface ICAM-1 using a sensitive and specific phycoerythrin-conjugated monoclonal antibody.
