Fig. 8 — A model deciphers molecular mechanisms by which PRMT5/p44 controls cell growth. PRMT5/p44 promotes cell cycle progression from G1 to S phase by increasing Rb phosphorylation and inhibiting p21 expression. PRMT5/p44 alters expression of oncogenes and tumor suppressors, which initiates cell growth. PRMT5/p44 also regulates cell growth and differentiation through the TGFβ signaling pathway
