(A) The durations and peak amplitudes of the Ca²⁺ pulses regulated the probabilities of induction of LTP (P_LTP), LTD (P_LTD), and failure of induction of synaptic plasticity (P_Failure) in the control model. The regulatory role of Ca²⁺ on P_LTP and P_LTD was further modulated by the absence of αCaMKII (B), which promoted a global reduction of P_LTD and an increase of P_LTP. The simultaneous absence of αCaMKII and CaN had no additional effect on P_LTD, but suppressed the occurrence of LTP (C). For each Ca²⁺ concentration in each panel, we analysed the results of 50–200 single runs of the model.
