Table 2.

PGE2 and hypercapnia induce sighs. Sigh frequency does not differ between wild-type mice and Ptger3-/- mice. In wild-type mice, PGE2 increases sigh frequency. Hypercapnia also increases sigh frequency more in wild-type mice than in Ptger3-/- mice. PGE2 abolishes this increase in wild-type mice but not in Ptger3-/- mice (*p<0.05). n: number of animals.
