The lower panel shows a closer view at the tip of the invagination. Distances between 3D objects were measured in AMIRA. We recognized the mother centrioles/basal bodies by the presence of cilia in the serial sections of SBF-SEM. (B) Distance of the tip of the individual invagination to the basal body or daughter centriole. The X- and Y-axis show the distance to the basal body and daughter centriole, respectively. We measured ten invaginations and found that nine of ten invaginations approached the basal body more closely than the daughter centriole.
