Illustration of the experimental design used. This design was created by Roff (1998) for testing phenotypic effects of inbreeding. Each group was composed of two families. Males and females from each family were crossed to establish outbred lines (dashed) while males and females from the same family were crossed to establish inbred lines (solid).
