Recent experiments have shown that the number of torque-generating complexes (stators) is not constant across applied loads. Therefore, it is likely that most measured torque-speed curves were generated using motors with varying numbers of stators: points in the high-load regime correspond to motors with up to 11 stators and points at low loads (within the kinetically limited regime) to motors with only one. Red dashed line separates the mechanically limited and kinetically limited regimes; we focus on the latter. Data shown is from (46); however, we note that another experiment in this same article presents data that seems to be collected from a motor with a constant number of stators.
