Free energy profiles as a function of ψ, the average backbone angle, in CPEB-Q monomer, dimer, and trimer quantifying the transition to β-rich structures are shown. Representative structures of coiled-coil state and coiled coil-rich state of the trimer and their frustratograms are illustrated. Minimally frustrated contacts are shown in green, and highly frustrated contacts are shown in red. Although both structures are overall only weakly frustrated, we see that localized frustration exists in both forms.
