Inhibition of AAMϕ marker genes by I-152. The levels of Ym1, Arg1, Fizz1, and iNOS mRNA in infected I-152-treated mice compared with those in infected mice were determined. β-Actin was used as an internal reference gene. Relative quantification was performed by real-time RT-PCR according to the 2−ΔΔCT comparative method, and data are expressed as the mean fold change compared to the value for the calibrator sample (one infected mouse at each time after infection) ± SD for 5 animals. *, P < 0.05 versus infected mice at the same time point; **, P < 0.01 versus infected mice at the same time point. The expression of iNOS at 9 weeks was calibrated to the value for infected mice at 2 weeks. Because iNOS was expressed in only two out of five mice, statistical analysis was not performed.
