Axial post-mortem CT image through the superior mediastinum of an elderly male subject demonstrates mural hyperdensity of the ascending aorta (white arrows) which can be a normal appropriate post-mortem CT finding. There is also evidence of intravascular hypostasis in the ascending aorta (black thin arrow).
