Effects of niclosamide on the proliferation and morphology of colon cancer cells. (A) Human colon cancer cell lines were treated with niclosamide at the indicated doses for 1–3 days and the proliferation rate was measured using the MTT assay. Niclosamide treatment resulted in dose- and time-dependent inhibition of cell growth. (B) Colon cancer cells were seeded in 6-well plates overnight and treated with niclosamide for 24 h and images were captured using an inverted microscope (magnification, ×100). Significant changes in cell morphology were observed in the niclosamide-treated groups. The results are expressed as the means ± SE (*P<0.05; **P<0.01 and ***P<0.001 vs. DMSO).
