Effect of divalent cations on percentage of fusion between liposomes and intact Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 25619 correlated to atomic radius.

Notes: Two milliliters of bacteria grown to an OD660 nm of 0.6 in Mueller Hinton broth was then mixed with the labeled liposomes and 1 mM of each ion to a final concentration of 10Å µg/mL. Fusion was monitored by Rh fluorescence decrease at 590 nm after 30 minutes resulting from resonance energy transfer efficiency decrease.
