YAP1/TAZ activation in Sav1-depleted cells induces TGF-β and TβRII mRNA expression, thereby synergistically enhancing responsiveness to TGF-β. This mechanism promotes TGF-β-induced EMT-like phenotypic changes and contributes to progressive renal TIF. Sav1 depletion also enhances Wnt/β-catenin activation, which exacerbates TIF.
