CSMEN behaviour in an a.c. magnetic field. (a) strain in the CoFe2O4 core is transferred to the BaTiO3 shell when exposed to alternating magnetic field; (b) Displacement in the shell caused by the stress transferred from the core and the displacement is periodic; (c) Localized electric potential created in the shell and; (d) The magnetostrictive pulse creates an electric pulse of 8.33 milliseconds (approx) corresponding to the excitation of an a.c. magnetic field of frequency 60 Hz.
