Scheme for generating an XXZ spin Hamiltonian using a stroboscopic evolution. The scheme contains periodic applications of a multifrequency Raman field to induce the HXY interaction (in green), two fast microwave pulses (or optical two-photon transition) forming Hmw that uniformly rotate the spin basis {|gn,|sn}{(|gn+|sn)/2,(|gn|sn)/2} back and forth (in blue), and a butterfly-like pumping scheme that applies HZZ in the rotated basis.
