5Z-7-oxozeaenol increased HT-induced cell death in A549 cells. The cells were treated with HT (44 °C, 20 min) combined with or without 5Z-7-oxozeaenol (1, 2.5, and 5 μM) for 1 h and incubated at 37 °C. a Cells were harvested after incubation for 24 h and stained with Annexin V-FITC and PI for flow cytometry. b Cells were collected 24 h after the treatment and incubated with RNase solution and PI at 37 °C for 30 min. Cell cycle distribution was determined by flow cytometry. Cells were treated with indicated concentrations of 5Z-7-oxozeaenol (1, 2.5 and 5 μM) for 1 h followed by HT treatment (44 °C, 20 min). c Colony formation assay was performed after 12 days incubation. d Percentage of colonies was calculated. The results are presented as mean ± SD (n = 3). *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001 compared with HT-treated cells
