(D) Quantification of microglial cells shows a significant reduction in the 5xfAD + PLX3397 group compared to the 5xfAD group in the hippocampus and amygdala (two-tailed unpaired t-test, P < 0.0001). (E and F) Levels of amyloid-β species in detergent-soluble fractions are unchanged with the elimination of microglia.
