Model for the Wnt-5a effects at the postsynaptic region. Wnt-5a induces the activation of the non-canonical Wnt pathway by interacting with the FZD9 receptor in the postsynaptic compartment. This interaction facilitates the rapid and transient activation of heterotrimeric G proteins, specifically the Gαo subunit and the Gβγ complex. The activated G proteins participate in the Wnt-5a-induced dendritic spine dynamics and the PSD-95 cluster remodeling through PLC, CaMKII, PKC, and JNK activation.
