Macrophage CEC (A) and ABCA1 CEC (B) of serum HDL (apoB-depleted serum) was monitored using [³H]cholesterol-loaded J774 macrophages or BHK cells expressing human ABCA1 in women before and after menopause (n = 46). Results are percentages of radiolabel present in the medium after a 4-hour incubation with cells. Lines of best fit were calculated by least squares maximum likelihood linear regression.
