CRISPR locus and its associated genes. (A) CRISPR associated genes consist of eight CDS, cas3, cse1, cse2, cas7, cas5, cas6e, cas1, and cas2, shown in blue within their genomic environment. Green lines connecting the genes in different organisms represent BLAST sequence homology with a gradient from light green to dark green for low to high percentage sequence identity, respectively. Genes neighboring the CRISPR locus present homology in Pr. naegleriophila genomes, but not to other genomes showing that the site of CRISPR locus insertion in Pr. naegleriophila genomes is different than in other bacteria.
