The relationship between the evolutionary distance between viruses and the evolutionary distance between their arthropod hosts (categorized by genus). Closely related viruses tend to be found in closely related hosts. Permutation tests find a significant positive correlation (correlation = 0.36, 95% CIs = 0.34–0.38, P < 0.001) between host and virus evolutionary distance (see Supplementary Figure S2).
