rAd(HA-1405) provided partial protection from lethal challenge of clade 2.3.2 H5N1 in ICR mice. ICR mice (n = 15) pre-inoculated with 10¹¹ vp of rAd(HA-1405) or rAd-empty were infected 1 day later with 5LD₅₀ of clade 2.3.2 H5N1. Randomly five mice from both groups were euthanized 5 dpi, and lung tissues were taken for viral RNA copies titration and histological scoring. (a) Viral yields were measured by real-time PCR in right upper lung lobes (P = 0.0280). (b and c) All data were repeated three times. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed with left upper lobes for pathological evaluation (histological score, P < 0.0001). Remaining 10 mice were observed 21 days for (d) survival rates and (e) weight loss (survival rates, P = 0.0031). Student's t-test was performed to compare viral RNA copies and pathological change.
