Molecular, cellular and tissue hypotheses integration for multilevel mechanisms of action to be tested in clinical trials. Physiological and pharmacological relationships at different levels of complexity lead into neuroprotective effects that are clinically relevant. TRPV1 channel offers a novel pharmacological target that may modulate the actions of estrogens with significant implications on clinical efficacy.
