The relationship among the pressure-volume curve, RAP index and cerebral auto-regulation. When the RAP index is close to 0, cerebral auto-regulation remains intact and there is good compensatory reserve. As the ICP continues to rise and the RAP index approaches +1, the compensatory reserve decreases; however cerebral auto-regulation remains.
